Event Information and Registration Form:

About the event:

This will be the 4th national event (previous events having been held in 2006, 2007, 2009) hosted by Porirua based Police staff. We have some new and some old faces bringing to you what we hope will be another great event.

Crew compilation rule for Police Crews:

1. Open crews may have a non Police steerer if that person is normally a part of their waka crew
2. Novice crews (less than 12mths waka experience) may have a non Police "experienced" steerer and one other "experienced" waka paddler for health and safety purposes

Day One - will see two marathon events for Open and Novice crews with a sea course if good conditions or inner harbour and Pauatahanui Inlet if not. There will be two divisions and two events: Open and Novice - all Women, Men and Mixed crews for each division will race at the same time - i.e. there will be no separate mixed event. All crew members are required to carry a lifejacket on board their waka. Course details to follow.

Day Two - will be a sprint event held in the inner harbour directly off Onepoto and will be open to any waka paddlers / crews wishing to participate. Course distance will be 500 metres for all divisions. Some crews may wish to combine to enter into the Mixed event and in these instances crews should be aware that:

1. You will need to provide a new entry for the Mixed event (each form caters for one crew)
2. You will likely get a total of 6 races if you combine events (weather permitting) and in some instances you may have close racing (i.e. back to back). Every attempt will be made to manage the programme.
3. There will be no turning races.

Course details to follow.
