Sponsorship

The New Zealand Council of Sport is very proud and appreciative of the sponsorship from both the New Zealand Police Association, and New Zealand Police.

This sponsorship is managed by the Council and allocated to over 14 different sports so that they can hold their National tournaments. Such sports range from Cross Country Running, Touch, and Waka Ama.

Sporting Equipment

The National office holds funds for sporting equipment for National sports team.
This equipment may also be used by other Police Teams upon approval from the National Manager

Endurance Grants

If you are competing in an endurance event such as the Coast to Coast, an Ironman or something similar and you are a member of the Council of Sport you are entitled to apply for an Endurance grant. The grant is calculated at 25% of the entry fee up to a maximum of $200.00 per year. You need to contact the National Manager advising the details of the event together with a copy of the entry form & the Application for Funding Endurance Grant form.

NZ Representatives

If you have been selected to represent New Zealand either nationally or internationally you are entitled to apply for the NZ Rep grant. If you will be travelling internationally as the representative then you will be eligible for a grant of $500.00, if competing in New Zealand then the grant is for $200.00 (maximum of $500.00 per year). You need to contact the National Manager advising of the dates and location of these events together with a letter from your national body confirming your selection as a NZ rep, along with the Application for Funding NZ Representative form. You will obviously also need to be a member of the Council of Sport.

Tournament Organisers

If you are the organiser of a national event then the national body will assist you both with funding and advice. A budget is set for each active sporting code at the Councils AGM held around June each year. The code is entitled to use the funds as their committee wish. A good proportion of the budgeted monies are expected to be used for the national tournament for that code but the committee may wish to hold onto funds for a planned tour. For advice on funds or tournaments, contact the National Manager.

If you wish to hold a new tournament the Council can assist with funding. Please contact the National Manager for further information.

District Funding

If you are involved in any recreational activity, play any sport, or are after funding for a local tournament?
Contact your local District Sports Officer. They will be able to advise what you are entitled to.
