General Suggestions

Here are some things to think about when you are looking at publishing content.

  1. Use with caution what contact details are used here as this is a public web site for the sake of personal and work related email addresses and SPAM
  2. While editing a page there is a link to enable rich-text, below the Body section of the page while your editing your page. This is very useful for novice users, but should be used with caution on some main pages as it can re-render some html code that has been deliberately coded for specific reasons (ie point 1 above)
  3. Try to keep to open web standards, ie power point documents may look nice, but they grow in size very quickly, and are only really applicable for windows users with full versions of Microsoft Office or their equivalent viewers installed
  4. The site needs to be kept lean and for the lowest common denominator, Dial Up modem users. So this is the number one thing to consider with the points below.
  5. Keep the content brief and to the point.
  6. Keep the content consistent with the rest of the site for familiarity of the members.
  7. Keep the content fresh with new or recent events in the Code page to encourage repeat visits.
  8. Insert Images that relates to the content and to create interest not just to fill space. This also reduces the time that it takes users to download web pages.
  9. Try to make the images, posters and forms as small as possible, the smaller the file the quicker the download time.
