Scott Johnson gains experience at International Golf Tournament

Scott Johnson tells his story:

Image Description"I was recently selected in a 6 man NZ golf team to compete in the Four Nations Cup and Canadian Amateur, both events held in Montreal. This was my first time representing NZ at the senior level, having played 3 years as a junior rep between the ages of 16-18. 15 years is a while to wait for a call-up, but I was very proud to have been selected for this team.

The Four Nations event is a match play event between NZ, Australia, Canada and Japan. There were a number of top world ranked players competing. I personally did not manage any wins despite some close games, and my teammates also struggled. We ended up in fourth position with the locals from Canada proving far too strong for all other teams.

The second week saw us competing in the Canadian Amateur Stroke play. After rounds of 78 and 73, I missed the cut by a single shot, which was disappointing. However, I learnt a lot from this overseas experience and I look forward to future events representing NZ. The best placed New Zealander finished in 20th place.

I would like to thank the NZ Police Council of Sport along with my supervisors at Central for their continued support of my golfing interests."
