Christchurch to host Australasian Games 2012
The New Zealand Police Council of Sport (PCOS) is excited to be hosting the Australasian Police & Emergency Services Games (AP & ES Games) in Christchurch 2012. New Zealand has hosted these Games only twice, both in Wanganui, the latest in 1996.
National Manager of the PCOS Alison Murray has been selected as Games Director responsible for the organisation of these Games. Alison will remain based at the Aotea complex at the Royal New Zealand Police College.
The PCOS objective is to encourage promote and co-ordinate police sports, games and recreation and having the Games in New Zealand is a great opportunity to encompass these ideals in a tournament for all of us.
To maximise expenditure in 2012 all annual PCOS funded tournaments for that financial year will be held during the Games. This will ensure a great turn–out of competitors and allow participants in all our national events to enjoy the camaraderie of like-minded people from the Australasia region. It is also the best option to ensure that our financial assistance can be used to back our annual tournaments as well as ensuring the Games are well supported.
